About Community Stars

Our city is full of amazing people that give up their free time to help others in their local communities. NET's Community Stars project gives us a way of celebrating that. Our communities cannot thrive without the people who volunteer or otherwise give their time to help others, and this unpaid support too often goes unrecognised.

NET’s Community Stars 2017 celebrates the voluntary and unpaid contribution many people make across the city by giving the general public the opportunity to nominate individuals that they feel have made a difference.

The ultimate accolade is that the NET Community Star for 2017 will have a tram named after them for a year.

Your nominations

Community Stars could not be celebrated without your nominations.

Nominations are now closed

Nominations opened in November 2016, and closed on 30 September 2017.

A panel of volunteers and partners, including our main sponsor, NET, formed a selection panel to decide on the category winners.

The Celebration and Winners

All of the nominees, nominators and partner organisations were invited to the Community Stars 'Best In Nottingham' awards ceremony which took place on Monday 6 November 2017 at Nottingham's Albert Hall, with the support of the Big Lottery Fund Celebrate programme.

The event celebrated the fantastic achievements of people in Nottingham who give of themselves to help others. The NET Community Star 2017 was named at this celebration event.

Thank you, everyone, for celebrating with us. All of our nominees are Community Stars.
